BenHadad was king of Aram, a country near Israel. He was not a friend to the Israelites, and in fact at one point laid siege to the city of Samaria, bringing the people close to starvation. (Read more of his story in 1 Kings 15, 20, and 2 Kings 6 and 8. It will give you an idea of how uncivil a king he was. When  he became seriously ill, he reached out for help. However, that help backfired on him.

Take your time reading this Old Testament story. Meditate on it and ask the Lord to show you something new. In your journal or notebook, be sure to record: (1) To whom was the question asked? (2) What was the response? (3) What difference did the question make?  (4) What do you realize about God that you didn’t before this week’s quest?
