Day One – Born at the right time

Today’s Scripture: Esther 4:1-17; Psalm 139:16

Have you ever wondered if you were born at the right time? Born too early—before your time? Or born too late? The Psalmist said, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Besides wondering if the timing of our life is right, we may even question where we were born—and even why.

If anyone had a right to question her life’s timing, it was Esther. Many people consider the story of Esther to be a fairy tale of an orphan-turned-queen—the Cinderella of the Old Testament. Unfortunately for her, there was no prince charming or glass slipper. She was a Jewish girl born in a foreign country. Later she was orphaned and raised by her elderly cousin, Mordecai. The dictatorial king selected her to be his wife, and she spent her remaining days married to a man she probably didn’t even love, let alone know. Not a whole lot of romance, is there? But there was a whole lot of opportunity.

Regardless of where or when we were born, we need to remember one thing: God ordained the timing, the place, and the purpose. Let’s spend this week uncovering the “whys” of our existence and emerge with the assurance that God really does know what He’s doing!

Enjoy the quest!
