Day Seven – For this purpose

Today’s Scripture: Exodus 9:16

Someone said that the two most important days in a person’s life are the day he was born and the day he discovers why. But, before we can discover the “why” for our existence, we need to develop the “who.”

Several years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As the disease progressed, she lost her ability to speak and to recognize even close relatives. It was painful to watch. One day I informed the Lord that if my mother had known what would happen to her, she would not want to live like that. “She’s such a sweet woman,” I lamented one day. “Why do you let people like her live in such a condition? She’d rather be in heaven.” The Lord patiently responded, “I allow people like that to live in order to develop character in people like you.”

God told Pharaoh, “I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

What could be better than living out the purpose of letting the Lord show His power as His name is proclaimed throughout the earth? It’s a divine purpose with heavenly rewards. Embrace it and live life to the fullest!

  • How would you describe your purpose in life? How well are you living it out?
