Day Seven – Make the match

Today’s scripture: Genesis 24:62-67, 1 John 4:19

After Rebekah said yes to the dress, the servant accompanied her on the return trip, leading her right into the arms of Isaac, who was ready and waiting for his bride. As soon as Isaac saw Rebekah, he welcomed her into his tent and loved her. The servant’s mission was accomplished.

The safest place for us to bring Rebekah is right into the arms of the Son Who is waiting for that relationship to be complete. His tent (the church) is a perfect place for a person to receive and learn about the love of the Bridegroom.

John said, “We love because he first loved us.” We could not love God if He didn’t love us first. He initiates. We respond. It’s a beautiful plan that creates a strong, loving relationship.

Many years ago, an elderly woman told me how her marriage had been arranged by her parents. “I didn’t love my husband when we were first married,” she confessed. “The only thing I liked about him was his car.” She went on to share that it took a few years before she realized he really did love her. The husband remained patient and loving, and in time she reciprocated. The year she died, they celebrated 69 years of marriage. He initiated. She responded.

God’s mission remains the same today. Let’s help the Bride of Christ become complete for his Son’s sake. Are you ready to arrange some marriages?

  • How have you experienced the love of Jesus? How long did it take you to respond?
  • Who do you need to invite and bring into the tent of the Son?
  • How will your relationship with the Lord be different after this week’s quest?

Feel free to post your thoughts.
